Worked on the maintenance and evolution of the main Cloud monitoring component of New Relic. This meant working with the monitoring APIs of AWS, Azure and GCP, collecting and processing inventory and metric data, and defining with the PM the most important dashboards to show customers. This component was built in Java and Kafka, with a small dose of Ruby, and required due to the large amount of data collected required high scalability and performance in the whole system. Worked on the maintenance and evolution of the on-premise Infrastructure monitoring agent, built in Golang, and included working with the build pipeline (Jenkins), customer support and finally the process of opensourcing the component and refactoring of the build pipeline from Jenkins to Github actions. Lastly, worked on many of the infrastructure monitoring modules, like Kafka, Redis, Postgres, MySQL, Docker, Kubernetes and many others, all built with Golang. Also worked on the adaptation of these modules from working on-host to working in Kubernetes and Prometheus. Show less

I assumed the role of Team Lead doing mainly requirement analysis, work delegation and supervision, coaching and mentoring of a 5 person team, which worked in conjunction with multiple other small teams to deliver the first M2M/IoT platform on the Portuguese market and one of the first at the European level. The platform was built on top of JEE/Java using a variety of tools including RedHat JBoss, PostgreSQL, Maven, ElasticSearch and others.
