Overview

The European Commission’s New European Bauhaus is a creative, interdisciplinary movement to transform the built environment into a circular, inclusive model that can counteract the escalating climate crisis. The European wood-based sector has launched the Wood Sector Alliance for the New European Bauhaus (Wood4Bauhaus) as an open platform to reach out to all the involved stakeholders. Wood, an extremely versatile natural material being part of a multitude of products, is a circular material par excellence. Long-life products using wood can store carbon for decades or even centuries in buildings and living spaces, and can be reused, remanufactured and recycled to further prolong the storage time. The Alliance raises awareness for and puts a spotlight on the versatility of innovative wood products and building systems to facilitate dedicated co-creation partnerships with the construction sector, architects and the wider NEB community. The W4B Alliance is supported through the Horizon 2020 projects WoodCircus, Basajaun and InnoRenew CoE funded by the European Commission.
