Women Engineers Pakistan

Overview

What do we want? We want Pakistan to progress. Our Vision is to bridge the gender gap within STEM domains in Pakistan. We work to catalyze participation of women & girls in Science, Tech, Engineering, and Math (STEM) within Pakistan, where the gender gap ranks 2nd last globally. What is it that we do? * Provide software and soft skills training to ensure capacity building and upskilling of Pakistani youth * Increase representation of women in engineering & showcase Pakistani female role models * Counsel women about career choices * Determine and advocate for the essential needs of women engineers in Pakistan * Feature scholarships and awards pertinent to engineering as a resource for women, to help them reach their educational goals. * Engage and activate Alumni connections to facilitate smoother graduate-to-employer correspondence And Why is this important? Lack of engineering talent is a major concern, not just in Pakistan but around the world. Now, more than ever, it’s imperative for the engineering industry to increase its talent pool by attracting more women. In Pakistan, women make up over half of the population. Ideally, this would equate to women representing at least half of the country’s engineers, designers, technologists, scientists and inventors. Unfortunately, women currently make up less than 10% of Pakistan’s S.T.E.M. professionals*. We have made it our mission to increase this percentage, giving women more equal representation in engineering in Pakistan and worldwide. * Source: Pakistan Council for Science and Technology R&D Surveys (2013-14)
