Overview
Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG) has a vision of western Arizona communities where all residents, including those in poverty and the most vulnerable populations, can flourish and prosper. As western Arizona’s Community Action Agency, Head Start and Area Agency on Aging, WACOG works to educate, stimulate, promote and develop human, natural, social and economic resources in La Paz, Mohave and Yuma Counties. WACOG believes that all people should have the tools needed for self-sufficiency and empowerment to achieve their full potential and contribute to their community. WACOG’s services include early education; advocacy and programming for the elderly; weatherization; rent and utility assistance; homeless prevention; counseling on foreclosure prevention, financial literacy, reducing energy bills and homeownership; and transportation planning. WACOG serves over 23,000 individuals and families annually and has been working in our community for over 40 years. WACOG’s mantra is “Strengthening Communities, Empowering People.” Together with our partners and advocates throughout western Arizona, we will achieve our vision of providing a pathway out of poverty, improving the quality of life for all.
