The VGB is committed to the common interests of its members. However, due to increasing specialization, more and more different types of trade companies have emerged, each with their own particular interests. It has, as a result, become virtually impossible to reach agreements that are satisfactory for all members. The range of activities had become too broad and the revenue streams from the commodity boards (‘Productschappen’) fell through, which put significant pressure on the operation of the VGB. These developments called for a reassessment of the VGB’s vision.
