Since 2011, Ultra Surface Solutions and Simply Surfaces have been owned and operated by Rowan O’Brien. From a family-owned business already successful in the benchtop fabrication industry meant he naturally gained many years of product knowledge, manufacturing techniques and business operations. From the age of 17, he worked and gained experience in the industry, running branches of the family business and earning a reputation for his manufacturing techniques, technical knowledge and skill. In 2011, Rowan purchased Tauranga Laminates, a laminate benchtop manufacturing company, providing a service to local joiners, cabinetmakers, kitchen design companies and bespoke furniture makers. The business originated in 1996 and already had more than 20 years in the local market. Wanting to expand the business into complementary products, Rowan rebranded the company as Ultra Surface Solutions. Their mission - to be the leading manufacturer of premium solid surfaces and laminates in the Bay of Plenty. And to deliver the best, most attractive and functional surfaces that will delight their clients now and in the future. Today, the brand has grown to include: Ultra Surface Solutions serving trade customers, Simply Surfaces and The Top Shop Whakatane, retailers of surfaces and benchtops for homeowners and renovators, Tavolo - Premium Solid Surfaces and Rowan James Limited, New Zealand importer and distributor of Tavolo. From concept to completion, the Ultra Surface Solutions team delivers the best craftsmanship and high-quality surfaces to clients throughout the Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Gisborne and Hawkes Bay regions. The business could not thrive without its people. The team are passionate about delivering the best quality craftsmanship to their clients while recognising the company is still only as good as the people that work there.
