THE PROBLEM When over 40% of eligible voters don’t make it to the polls, we have to do something. The right to vote is a cornerstone of our democracy. Today, though, it faces challenges we couldn’t even imagine just a few years ago. Foreign meddling. Technology vulnerabilities. Partisan gerrymandering. Voter Suppression. Apathy. All create an environment where it’s hard to believe the individual vote matters. A NEW APPROACH The resources are there, but it’s clear these alone aren’t enough. Traditional voices of authority don’t have the same weight as before. They’ve been replaced by peer driven ones, such as search and social media. Makes sense: what gets us off the sidelines, moves us to action in our regular lives? Being motivated by those that matter to us. Snowball uses technology to put the power of personal connection and peer influence to work inspiring engagement. HOW IT WORKS People join our web app community to motivate each other to become involved. • Creating small, private groups to encourage each other • Setting goals, tracking their progress • Having fun, chatting, winning badges, watching real time data • Showing them the larger impact they’re each making WHY WE'RE DIFFERENT Snowball's not just a voter registration site, or just a get-out-the-vote tool.
