GULF SUPPLY Over the years, due to the demand of customers, Gulf Supply expanded and three new companies were created: Diagnostics Biomedical, PPE Rentals Inc., and Gulf Coast Training and Testing. The group of companies are now referred to as The Gulf Companies. Together, they are a full service organization that serves the construction and industrial industry. Under the recent ownership of Colleen Kennedy, Melvin’s daughter, the companies have become WBENC certified. This certifies that all of the companies are a woman owned business. Colleen, along with her husband Butch, have been a part of The Gulf Companies since it started, and they are both very involved in day to day operations. Gulf Supply is the largest supplier of safety and janitorial products in the area, selling in bulk and single items. Gulf Supply Co., Inc. was started in 1994 by Melvin Hyer. He had previously owned Industrial Safety Products since 1976, but he decided to sell out of that company and get a fresh start with a completely family owned company. PPE Rentals Inc. is a full service rental company that provides short and long term rental of specialized industrial equipment that includes fall protection, gas monitoring, traffic control, intrinsically safe lighting, fresh air ventilation, and breathing air solutions. Drugnostics Biomedical is a nationally certified drug and alcohol testing facility providing same day drug testing and OSHA Certification Training on site or at our offices. Gulf Coast Training and Testing provides online or classroom OSHA Certification and Safety Training in both English and Spanish.
