Overview

The HELM Foundation is a leadership and entrepreneurial initiative that focuses on raising young leaders and entrepreneurs who can provide sustainable and scalable solutions to economic and societal problems within their immediate environments. The name “HELM” is an acronym that represents the 4 cardinal points of the HELM foundation’s strategy, which are Health, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Mentorship. The HELM foundation’s primary project is tagged “The HELM Project”, and it is an initiative aimed at building relevant soft, leadership and entrepreneurship skills for teenagers. The project is strictly for young students between the ages of 10 - 16 from both private and public schools. Uniqueness of The HELM Project Unlike other projects or youth-led programs where young people are mentored or taught various skills and left alone to apply their skills. The HELM Project takes it a step further by executing project with the participants allowing them to practice all they have learned as part of their training and mentorship. The HELM also creates an avenue for secondary school teenagers of various economic and social classes to collaborate and work together. This in its way is aimed at bridging the divide that exists between students of public and private schools. Where there seems to be a divide instead of a collaboration between the two groups. “The HELM Projects beliefs that these two classes of students should have a platform where they can work and share ideas with one other. These differences should be seen as an advantage to foster learning between the two groups.”
