THE GREAT OUTDOOR GYM COMPANY LTD

Health, Wellness & Fitness

Overview

Incorporated in January 2007, The Great Outdoor Gym Company Ltd (TGO) has established itself as the pioneer and innovator of outdoor gyms and proven its positive impact on physical activity levels amongst communities. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) physical inactivity is the fourth leading risk factor to health. According to Public Health England, 40% of diseases and illnesses are driven by insufficient physical activity. TGO’s free to use, inclusive, family friendly gyms provide opportunities for people to get active. With around 1000 gyms installed to date, TGO has worked with hundreds of Local Authorities as well as high profile projects with adidas and the United Nations. In the lead up to London 2012 Games, TGO has installed 70 London 2012 branded gyms with adidas bringing Olympic legacy to people’s local parks. In 2010, TGO moved its manufacturing to the UK to ensure its product was long lasting and reliable. With this move TGO redesigned its whole range, owning its IPR entirely and working with a Royal Marine PTI to ensure the functionality was excellent. It was at this time, TGO had a light bulb moment and decided to develop its world famous green energy range that harnesses human energy turning into Watts for phone charging, lighting spaces and even tying back to the grid. In 2012, TGO installed the first green energy gym called the Green Heart that glowed at night through human energy. In 2015, TGO was invited to the pivotal Paris Climate Change Conference with the green energy range. In 2016, the United Nations commissioned TGO to install an energy gym in the follow up Global Climate Change Conference in Marrakech COP22. The gym was installed with a bike sharing scheme, hall marks of sustainable cities. In 2017, TGO decided that Tech was an important next step. TGO developed a smart gym and activate app that allows TGO to engage with its users, allowing them to find a gym easily, see what is in it, log and track their workouts via smart signage, find a trainer and in the future download a class. This will be launching in 2018.
