Overview

Are you interested in a career in student affairs? The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program allows students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns work part-time for 10-weeks and receive living and housing stipends. The internship will run from June 3 – August 12. Undergraduates and graduate assistants are eligible to apply. A graduate affiliate is a graduate assistant (GA) or graduate research assistant (GRA) who wishes to extend the duration of their current appointment. Although internships range in subject matter and skill set, each is designed to prepare all students for life after graduation. For this reason, each intern will submit three self-assessments and a final essay reflecting on their development in the areas listed below. These skills have been identified by higher education and corporate recruiting leaders as critical to a student’s career preparation. They are used across the country to prepare students for a successful transition from school to the workforce. 1. Critical thinking/problem solving 2. Oral/written communications 3. Teamwork/collaboration 4. Digital technology 5. Leadership 6. Professionalism/work ethic 7. Career management 8. Global/intercultural fluency Please contact nali@austin.utexas.edu with questions.
