Te Korowai Hauora o Hauraki is a kaupapa Māori driven primary health care organisation based out of Thames, but also provides services in Coromandel, Paeroa, Waihi, Te Aroha, Whitianga and on Waiheke Island. It has successfully delivered services to the Hauraki rohe for the past sixteen years. Te Korowai Hauora o Hauraki provides medical centres, primary mental health, health promotion, community palliative care, home based support, Kaumātua support, mirimiri and traditional healing. We also provide access to remedial dental care, podiatry and physiotherapy. We often hear of the ‘patient-centric’ model of care. The Māori model tends to focus on Whare tapa wha – a “whānau-centric” or “all-encompassing” approach. Te Korowai Hauora o Hauraki applies this model effectively with its wide-ranging services, which are available to all.
