Sunrise Children's Services

Overview

Sunrise Children's Services is a statewide nonprofit organization that provides care and hope for hurting families and children through Christ-centered ministries. Sunrise Children's Services has been at the forefront in the fight to protect Kentucky's orphaned children since 1869. Today, Sunrise is a home for children who have been abused and neglected — children whose lives have been scarred by unspeakable physical, sexual, and emotional abuse — and who have been removed from their homes by the state. We serve more than 1,000 individuals who are in our care each day. From the president of our organization down to our direct care staff, our goal every day is to provide a place of refuge, of hope, of love, and of healing to these children whose lives have been devastated. For these children, Sunrise is a place where they can begin to feel safe, a place where they encounter adults who give unconditional love, a place where they can begin to learn that the world can be a good place. The Commonwealth of Kentucky licenses Sunrise as a Behavioral Health Services Organization (BHSO) which provides foster care, residential, therapeutic treatment, and community-based services statewide. The Joint Commission has given Gold Seal accreditation to Sunrise, and we maintain other professional licenses and accreditation needed for comprehensive therapeutic child care. The safety and well-being of the children we serve is of paramount importance to us. More information is available at www.sunrise.org.
