Overview

We provide legal aid on a case-by-case basis, conduct strategic litigation and assist the court in providing expert legal opinion of the law. She-her represented claimants in a case seeking to eliminate discrimination against the promotion of women to high ranks in Punjab prisons. Our goal was to push for policy reform while increasing awareness about gender-based discrimination in government institutions. She-her also litigated a case aimed at obtaining a declaration from the higher courts to decree domestic violence a crime rather than a ‘family matter’. Working with the National Commission for Human Rights, further efforts are underway to prevent discrimination against sanitary workers from religious minorities. We were appointed as Amicus Curiae in a case where the newly enacted Punjab Enforcement of Women’s Right to Property Act 2021 was challenged as being unconstitutional. By interpreting the law and advising on how it could be preserved, She-her highlighted the importance of providing women with a forum to address grievances related to property and inheritance. Further appointments saw She-her helping to protect the fundamental rights of farmers to life and property as guaranteed by the Constitution, in the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project. Alongside the above legal work, She-her is also planning to conduct sexual harassment and inheritance rights workshops. Training will take place in corporate and educational institutions with the aim of raising awareness. For us to continue our work furthering public interests, we need your help! This can be in the form of grants, sponsorships or endorsements. We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your efforts to make Pakistan a safe haven for all.
