Overview

Mission: “We are dedicated to raising funds for research leading to better prevention strategies, treatment protocols, or cures, that improve the quality of life for people who live with cerebral palsy [CP], their families, and caregivers.” Vision: "Our vision is a world where preventable cases of cerebral palsy are prevented, where treatable cases are treated, where curable cases are cured, and where every individual impacted by cerebral palsy can reach their fullest potential in life." The Pedal with Pete Foundation is a community of volunteers who work to raise funds for cerebral palsy research through bike rides and walks. Established by Pete Zeidner, who has CP, in Kent, Ohio, these events have spread to Columbus, Ohio and Emmetsburg, Iowa; let's create an event in YOUR community! Determined to show that handicaps are not always limiting, Pete Zeidner, dealing with serious case of cerebral palsy, rode a recumbent bicycle with joy and purpose. Pete started the Pedal with Pete Foundation in 1993 with the goal to raise $1,000,000 for cerebral palsy (CP) research. Under his leadership, we reached that goal in 2015! We are now at $1 million and counting for CP research. Over the years, donors, riders, walkers, volunteers, and sponsors of Pedal with Pete have funded promising clinical research through our grants to research centers across the country and around the world, including Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and the Case Western University in cooperation with the Cleveland Clinic, and including researchers in Ontario, Italy, and Australia! Pedal with Pete partners with the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Development Medicine (AACPDM) to aid in the assessment, ranking, and selection of grant requests. The AACPDM is the premier international organization promoting excellence in research and services for the benefit of people with CP and childhood-onset disabilities.
