Overview

Our Story Northern Nevada Legal Aid (NNLA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit legal aid organization founded in 1965. Since that time, we have assisted thousands of vulnerable northern Nevada residents who cannot afford to hire an attorney. Our team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants are dedicated to ensuring that everyone has access to the legal system and that everyone is treated with respect and dignity. Our Vision We believe everyone should have access to justice, income security, adequate housing, quality education, healthcare, protection from violence, and the opportunity to improve their lives. Our Approach We offer free and low-cost services in civil cases to individuals and families who cannot afford to hire an attorney. Through advice, representation, advocacy, education, and collaboration, we seek... to achieve justice for those whose voices might otherwise not be heard, to empower individuals to advocate for themselves, and to make positive changes in the communities we serve. When problems occur, we help our clients secure the support they need to get back on their feet — with dignity. Our Goal We strive to ensure that low-income individuals, families and seniors have access to the civil justice system in times of crisis in order to achieve stability, security and self-sufficiency. Our Mission Washoe Legal Services provides Northern Nevada's vulnerable populations access to justice, regardless of their ability to pay, to protect their rights, safety and family stability.
