National Phenotypic Screening Centre

Biotechnology Research

Overview

The National Phenotypic Screening Centre (NPSC) is a new drug discovery venture, embedded in the academic sector, focusing on rebalancing the current emphasis on target-based screening in order to identify new pharmaceuticals to tackle complex human diseases. It's main screening facility is at the University of Dundee, Scotland with a smaller satellite screening facility at the University of Oxford. NPSC is also working closely with an assay development hub at the University of Edinburgh. NSPC’s approaches capitalize on recent technological advances that span genetics, stem cell biology, tissue and organ culture systems, high-content imaging, high-throughput flow cytometry and label-free screening, advanced informatics and modeling and small molecule chemical technologies.
