National Association of Parental Alienation Specialists

Professional Training and Coaching

Overview

The National Association of Parental Alienation Specialists is Co-Founded by Dr. Robert Evans, PH.D. and Dr. J. Michael Bone, PH.D. to address the question they are most often asked by judges and attorneys “is there a certifying organization for specialists in parental alienation?” Up to this point there hasn’t been. We recognize that attorneys cannot be “certified” in this area as there is no legal sub-specialty in Parental Alienation, however they can be taught the unique characteristics of parental alienation and how to litigate effectively such complicated cases. We, therefore, created the National Association for Parental Alienation Specialists (NAOPAS) to address the need in family law cases involving aspects of parental alienation where one must proceed in their representation in ways that are very different than if parental alienation were not present. Representation in these cases requires specialized understanding, knowledge and strategy in order to assist the court in having an understanding of the dynamics of this phenomenon and ultimately in finding a remedy. The purpose and mission of the NAOPAS is to provide the skills, information and the requisite resources necessary to achieve the task of effectively exposing all of this to the trier of fact. While the phenomenon of parental alienation is not “rocket science,” understanding what it really is and how to present it to the court is founded in scientifically based principles and established research. There is a great deal of misinformation regarding this subject, and one goal is to present the scientifically based research and information that exposes the common distortions about the subject. The NAOPAS provides all of these tools and all of this information in one source location and puts it all in within easy reach of the attorney.
