Morocco Minerals Company SA

Overview

Since 1986, Morocco Minerals Company (M.M.C) has been engaged in the exploration and mining on Moroccan territory. The company operates multiple narrow-vein barite deposits, mainly located in southern Morocco between Ouarzazate and Zagora. The production is almost entirely exported (to Western Europe, South America and Africa). Barite (barium sulfate) is an industrial mineral used primarily in the oil and gas drilling muds, after its reduction to fine powder. Morocco is the third largest producer of barite after China and India. The company also operates a medium-grade, open-cast hematite iron ore deposit (mechanized). The ore is delivered to local cement industry. Over the years, M.M.C has built a strong market position thanks in particular to a firm commitment to its customers satisfaction.
