Overview

WHO ARE WE Since 2014, Love Letters for Literacy, a 501(c)(3) is proud to have had over 26,000 volunteers of all ages join us in all 50 United States, 33 countries, and across 6 continents by creating handmade early literacy packets to support 72,000 children in need learn to read. SIMPLE STEPS TO VOLUNTEER Volunteers use markers and paper to create literacy kits for preschoolers in need. These handmade packets comprise 26 flashcards (A through Z), a short note from the volunteer, and a list of educational games to play at home. In just an hour, volunteers are able to create literacy packets to help equip families with the tools to teach their children to read. Volunteers can work alone, in groups, or even by Zoom! Our volunteers tell us that they have so much fun relaxing and using art as a means to bond with coworkers or friends while they make a difference. THE NEED Too many children entering school do not know their letters of the alphabet and start their education already years behind their peers in more affluent schools. Love Letters for Literacy's goal is to provide all students with access to early literacy tools. GET INVOLVED Sign up to receive an email with the simple steps to volunteer with us. We welcome companies, service clubs, families, and individual volunteers. Anyone can help us make a difference! We have volunteers from age 5 to 92! We are also hiring unpaid interns to support our outreach efforts, marketing campaigns, and data collection. Contact us at info@lovelettersliteracy.org for information about how you can join us to help a child learn to read.
