Lancaster County, South Carolina is one of the fastest growing counties in South Carolina, with a 2021 estimated population of 100,336 with an average annual growth rate of 4.5% from 2020 – 2021. The County borders Charlotte, North Carolina to the north, which means we offer the ideal combination of access to big-city excitement with hometown comfort and outdoor pursuits. Lancaster County is home to four cities: the county seat is in Lancaster with a population of nearly 10,000, and the other cities are Kershaw, Heath Springs, and Van Wyck. Nearby Charlotte is a hub of activity, including professional sports, the famed Charlotte Motor Speedway, and top-tier cultural attractions like the Charlotte Symphony and touring Broadway shows. Life in Lancaster County is a bit more laid-back, but never dull. University of South Carolina - Lancaster draws top concerts and fascinating speakers, the Lancaster Playhouse has a full schedule of popular shows, and the number of retailers is growing. Recreational opportunities abound, including beautiful golf courses, the fascinating Forty Acre Rock Heritage Preserve, and the winding Catawba River.
