By 2050, the world's population is expected to double, contributing to urbanization and forcing the development of unsustainable large scale agriculture. Conventional agriculture wastes precious water, pollutes the land with chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and is the largest contributor to carbon emissions fueling climate change. We believe that everyone will need to contribute to local, closed-loop agriculture if we are to sustainably and efficiently produce enough food to meet this increasing demand, without destroying the planet. Over half the world's population currently live in urban areas. Íko Systems' vision is to reinvent the food supply chain and redefine the smart home. We strive to enable humans to coexist with nature, and to promote self-sustainable living by turning every home into a closed-loop agricultural system. The three pillars that guide our company are to reconnect people with nature, pioneer innovative technology to disrupt the current food system, and enable the world to become self-sustainable. Every plant growing appliance sold helps us to achieve our goal of democratizing the food production system and making a zero waste future attractive and convenient for everyone. Our first product, Okavango, is the first step towards self-sustainability by merging food production & consumption, making the food supply chain more efficient. We have created consumer hardware that enables everyone to grow locally and organically with zero effort, while capturing plant growth data to refine our environmental controls and optimize the CEA industry. These combined factors allow us to provide consistent access to the freshest and highest quality ingredients, which our customers use to cook healthy and flavorful meals. Data driven CEA farming in the hands of both consumers and farmers will allow us to produce enough food to sustainably support the worlds growing population.
