Green Thumbs Growing Kids

Overview

Green Thumbs offers food growing and environmental education programs in 4 inner-city schools and 2 park sites. Our programs take place in the east downtown Toronto neighbourhoods of St. James Town, Cabbagetown, and Regent Park. Our gardens are about kids and their grownups, plants and their people – from all over the world! In 2016, attendance was 6,375 children, 214 youth and 390 adults in 388 hours of high-quality programs. Our mission is to empower urban children, youth, adults and families to grow and prepare fresh garden foods, learn about nature and the environment, and foster a positive educational experience. Our vision is of healthy communities with learning gardens everywhere!
