Overview

The Gold Prospectors Association of America is the world's largest prospecting organization. The GPAA was founded by George "Buzzard" Massie in 1968 to give people the opportunity to pan and mine for gold on numerous GPAA properties throughout the United States. Massie formed the Lost Dutchman's Mining Association in 1976 and co-founded the Outdoor Channel in 1993. Today, the GPAA is under the direction of George's grandson, Brandon Johnson.
