Overview
In 1992, the six countries of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) launched the GMS Economic Cooperation Program with assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to enhance their economic relations. Today, the GMS Program is regarded as a successful model of regional cooperation in Asia. With support of ADB and other development partners, the GMS Program helps identify and implement high-priority subregional projects in agriculture, energy, environment, health and human resource development, information and communication technology, tourism, transport and trade facilitation, and urban development.
