Overview

Project Y, Inc. was founded by Samir Arora in Haight-Ashbury/Cole Valley in San Francisco with Ernie Cicogna, Susan Kare, Vic Zauderer, Fernando Ruarte, Dianna Mullins, Rebecca Bogle Arora, Raj Narayan, and Emmanuel Job as co-founders in 2003. Seed and Series A capital was provided by Information Capital, and Accel led the Series B round with DFJ and Walden with Theresia Ranzetta and Tim Draper joining the BOD and Jim Bryer and Josh Stein joining the Advisory Board in 2006. Marc Andreessen joined the BOD in 2012 when Mode acquired Ning. Project Y's founding vision was to help users find, consume and share social content created by professional creators. In 2005, Project Y renamed itself to Glam Media Inc. Glam Media overtook iVillage/NBC to become the #1 Digital Media company reaching women in 2008 and became of a Lifestyle Channels under Mode in 2012.
