Overview

The China Integrated Waste Management NAMA Support Project (IWM NSP), headed by the NAMA Facility and the Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MoHURD), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH implements the IWM NSP jointly with the China Association of Urban Environmental Sanitation (CAUES) since end of September 2017. The IWM NAMA project aims to catalyst the transformation of the Chinese waste sector towards a low-carbon path, paving the way for an integrated waste management (IWM) system in China’s cities. The IWM NAMA project will be implemented in (a minimum of) three demonstration municipalities, to demonstrate the integrated waste management system and its key performance indicators, as well as to establish the low-carbon database of the waste sector. It will contribute to China’s climate change mitigation actions.
