Overview

There are over 20,000 species of edible plants in the world yet fewer than 20 species now provide 90% of our food. However, there are hundreds of less well known edible plants from all around the world which are both delicious and nutritious. The mission of this company is to produce household consumables from perennial polyculture installations. We have a small vineyard & orchard. The company is based on Willsbridge Hill situated equidistant between Bristol & Bath in SW England. Early humans gathered fresh plant produce from across fertile forest systems. Settled agriculture based on annual crops is evolutionarily, a recent development. Annual cultivation has caused a degradation in our planet’s soil quality and our human nutrition. Some of the most exciting and rare food produce is grown by long living perennials. When we eat food from forests we help preserve our planet’s fertility for future generations. The philosophy of forest farming, we believe, will continue to grow with excitement due its complexity, diversity and sustainability. The future of our species is dependent upon the development of less impactful food production processes. The development of consumerism has polluted our planet, it is critical to adapt biological produce to help sustain urban populations, synthetic products are too intractable once thrown to waste. Dyes, timber, soaps and textiles can all be made from plant matter. At its most productive, forest systems can produce many distinct products for a variety of industries. A new, fascinating biological conglomerate business is the result.
