"Fertility, Infertility and Perinatology Research Center, Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, Ahvaz, Iran" About the Center The center formally started its research activity to promote a culture of research, provide novel solutions based on research in health-treatment affairs of infertility diseases based on approval of the Council of the Expansion of the Medical Sciences Universities and its activities on 2011-12-19. Since thalassemia and other congenital malformation are common in our province and these diseases, both emotionally and economically influences family and community, we decided to establish a center for early detection of these abnormalities in order to prevent the birth of people with diseases such as major thalassemia, sickle cell disease, Down syndrome and Turner and trisomy 13 and 18 and many other genetic diseases. The center consists of two units: Fertility and Infertility Unit After the founding of the center in on 2011-12-19, Fertility and Infertility Unit officially started its research activities and is now headed by Dr. Farideh Maramazi. The unit currently operates in the following areas: 1. Development and application of new knowledge in the field of fertility, and infertility 2. Basic, clinical and epidemiological research about knowledge of the causes of infertility in men and women, as well as the application of appropriate treatment to solve the problem of infertility in infertile couples
