Overview

Galway and West of Ireland has been awarded the European Region of Gastronomy 2018 designation. We are thrilled to be the first region in Ireland to attain this award alongside Noord Brabant in the Netherlands. The designation will commence from January and celebrates our rich landscape, our food heritage, our people, and our multi-cultural communities through a variety of food festivals and events. We will explore our Food and associated culture across five key platforms which are; Education and Health, Linking Urban with Rural, Cultural Diversity, Sustainability and Feeding the Planet and supporting SMEs and Innovation.The overall theme that has been set out for our term is, ‘From the Ground Up, Feeding our Future’.
