Overview
Empowering Epilepsy enables people with epilepsy to take charge of their lives by connecting them to experts and peers for education, care, support, and fun, family friendly events at every age and stage. Programs offered include conferences, sessions, and support groups, all with epilepsy specialists from Level 3 and 4 Epilepsy Centers. We hold free monthly age based virtual support groups with an hour of Q & A with an epilepsy specialist and an hour of talk time. These allow people with epilepsy and their families to meet others who understand epilepsy, learn strategies to manage their seizures, and make new friends. Support groups include: - Kids & Epilepsy Talk - Ages 12 and under and their loved ones - Teens & Epilepsy Talk - Ages 13 - 19 - Young Adults & Epilepsy Talk - Ages 20 -34. - Adults & Epilepsy Talk - Ages 35 - 60 - Seniors & Epilepsy Talk - Ages 60 + Our annual Empower Your Life Conference features some of the top epilepsy specialists in the country discussing ways to live well with seizures. We hold educational booths at over 30 health and wellness fairs in Northeast Ohio to better educate the general public about epilepsy and seizures. We hold three fundraisers throughout the year: - Gunselman's Tavern Leprechaun Chase 5K in Fairview Park, Ohio - Cleveland Marathon Empowering Epilepsy Purple Pacers Team in May. - TopGolf Fundraiser in September On March 26, 2022, we opened our Empowering Epilepsy Headquarters in Beachwood Ohio to provide a place where people with epilepsy can go for a variety of programs and events. We hold a bimonthly art therapy program for people with epilepsy and their loved ones. Our main goal is to show people with epilepsy that they are not alone and help them discover what they can do to empower their life.
