Overview

DUBS aims to: (1) Increase members’ commercial awareness and employability by giving them the opportunity to interact with a wide range of businesses ranging from start-ups to very prestigious firms, from across all sectors; (2) Allow members to apply the skills and knowledge they have learnt through their studies to the real world; (3) Provide members with various social activities, giving them the opportunity to meet new people from different Colleges and Degree Programmes. Events and Activities: DUBS organises a balanced programme of events each term, with a mixture of academic and social activities. For academic events, the Society aims to secure different inspiring speakers ranging from local entrepreneurs to senior staff in multi-national companies, and to organise soft skill development workshops to boost students' business awareness and employability. On the social side, members and non-members can also meet throughout the year at bar crawls, pub quizzes and balls. DUBS works alongside other popular Durham societies such as DU Economics Society, Consulting Society, Finance Society, Law Society, Entrepreneurs Durham, etc. The Society ultimately looks to its members for guidance on what events they would like to attend.
