Overview

Since its formation in 1972, DKN Architects (formerly Tucker Booker Donhoff) has completed projects across North America. The firm’s clients have included major corporations, private developers and public authorities. Among its most recent works are Gateway One Office Building, America Place Phase VIII, V-Soft, Waterside Apartments, 422 E Main,One Park, Waystar, Tempo Hotel, and Savery Hotel. These represent a significant sampling of the great diversity of buildings that the firm has explored. Small to large, these works provide a testament to a process that values each project as uniquely important. The executive leadership at DKN is comprised of three partners. The success of the firm is assisted by a talented and experienced staff, knowledgeable in the many genres of building types. The partners and their colleagues approach every building on its own terms, drawing inspiration from the context of place, program and budget. This approach stems from the conviction that successful projects with lasting value can only be achieved when individual building projects reflect a concern for the specific physical and cultural contexts in which they occur. Although the firm’s practice over the past four decades has been exceptionally diverse in terms of building types and settings, a central theme consistently evident in its built works is the conception of architecture as an art of place-making, combined with a deep understanding of functionality and affordability.
