Overview

Design Network North is made up of designers, manufacturers, businesses, institutions, students and individuals who all work within or have a passion for design in their industry. A core team of three individuals, each specialising in different areas, support the network, organising its events and providing assistance, opportunities and advice to members and non members alike. What does Design Network North do? The network is designed to offer support, advice, networking, business opportunities and events to its members, partners and the wider community. Our aim is to increase the awareness of the importance of design within all industries, insuring that the value of design is considered by everyone, in the region and beyond. Because our network is so diverse, we are able to pair up designers with other businesses who are looking to advance their design practices and create opportunities for working partnerships and future growth in the industry. How did Design Network North come about? The Network was established in September 2008 partly in response to the 2005 Cox Review into Creativity in Business, which found that there was a lack of awareness and expertise in applying design and creativity, particularly in manufacturing, within the region. Design Network North was set up to increase the contribution that design makes to the regional economy. A very broad aim, which includes design of every discipline from product to brand, architecture to web and engineering to service, within businesses of all types, shapes and sizes. Design Network North is a project delivered by RTC North Ltd and is part financed by the European Union European Regional Development Fund
