Overview

Nestled in the Philadelphia suburb of Warrington in Bucks County, our new community was designed on the best practices in memory care, providing a supportive environment for seniors with cognitive impairments like Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Every detail from the paint color to the furniture material to the window coverings reveal attention to detail focused on providing person-centered care and a tranquil environment. Our community has two neighborhoods, or wings of the building, which afford resident socialization and individualized care yet shield residents from large group interaction and agitating activity. These community features are rooted in the “Small House” model that has been found to be the most successful environment in providing that sense of home, connectedness and ultimately, happiness. Research indicates that residents in small house communities were significantly more socially engaged and displayed few non-aggressive behaviors, such as wandering, than residents in larger, traditional settings. More importantly, all staff receives specialized training in caring for those with cognitive needs, and all care plans, activities, meals, and other facets of resident life have been designed around the best practices in dementia care.
