For 48 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of PEI has been enriching the lives of Island children one mentor at a time. We make a difference in our community by providing children in need with one-to-one mentoring services that are proven to help kids stay in school, avoid risky behavior such as bullying, and grow up to be more civic-minded adults. Our donors can support BBBS mentoring programs knowing that their investments will have a transformative effect on young lives and yield robust long-term financial returns and societal value. According to a 2013 Boston Consulting Study “Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs generate an average social return on investment or SROI of $18 for every dollar invested.” The study determined that, over their working lives, the former Little Brothers and Little Sister will earn on average $315,000 more than those in the control group. These higher incomes will deliver additional tax revenue, higher consumer spending and increased charitable giving and volunteerism. At Big Brothers Big Sisters of PEI we value our relationships with the business community. We offer effective marketing opportunities through our Bowl for Kids Sake and Dream Cottage sponsorships. As well, businesses can engage in team building by putting a team in our annual Bowl for Kids Sake Fundraiser or by volunteering as a group at one of our events. Individual volunteers gain skills while mentoring, assisting with fundraisers and office related tasks, or by joining our Board of Directors.
