Overview

Located on a 3.3 acre site, the plant is approximately 2 miles outside Newtownards Town. The plant was commissioned in March 2018 and OFGEM accreditation was received in 2018 based on the total installed capacity of 500kW. Battletown AD Plant uses Anaerobic Digestion (AD) to process plant materials (biomass) into gas for heating and power. The gas is called methane or biogas. It is produced by bacteria, which digest biomass and produce methane as a by-product.
