Overview

The Pittsburgh Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers provides essential value to our members, their careers, our partners, and the public by developing leadership, advancing technology, advocating lifelong learning, and promoting the profession. The Pittsburgh Section has set three guiding principles. They are: * To engage our membership in public, legislative, and media outreach initiatives to spread awareness of infrastructure problems, funding shortfalls, and the need to take corrective action. * To promote civil engineering as a career path for today’s youth through educational outreach and participation in such events as Future Cities, Science Fairs, and School Visits. *. To build and maintain professional and technical skills for our members to better meet the needs of today’s marketplace. The Pittsburgh Section of ASCE has nearly 1700 members and represents engineering and construction interests for communities throughout western Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Section hosts several technical and networking events throughout the year, including the Annual Kick-off Dinner and Life Member Recognition Banquet in the Fall and the Engineers Week Awards Banquet in February as part of Engineers' Week. Our five technical institutes offer monthly or bi-monthly discipline-focused seminars and dinner events providing PDH’s to our membership. The Younger Member Forum (YMF) is also very active in hosting monthly opportunities for young professionals and college students to gain leadership, networking, and industry skills.
