We are a group of professionals with a common vision - support government systems and institutions to provide quality education to socially & economically disadvantaged children in the Foundational Stage i.e. children in the age group birth to 8 years. We work towards this vision by building capacity of key stakeholders through training, mentoring & coaching. Programmes supported by the government, Not-for Profits or Corporates are often at different stages of their evolution & face unique challenges to bring quality in them. Supporting the programme teams to provide high quality experiences to children requires a mix of activities – needs assessment; designing/contextualizing curriculum; perspective building at the leadership level; capacity building of teachers; a robust M & E system; innovative ways of engaging with parents and caregivers; engaging with the government system; and developing audio visual materials. The support required by an agency therefore varies. Our inputs are designed based on the need of individual programme. We also take up programme reviews and programme evaluations. We have till date supported approximately 500 Anganwadi workers & Balwadi workers; 1000 parents & caregivers & 100 Primary school Teachers. One of our programme has won the President’s award for CSR. Our capacity building programs have some unique features - an undergirding of Child Development principals along with skill development & understanding the pedagogy; ensuring that teachers are sensitized to encourage child’s mother language in the classroom & addressing the emotional health of functionaries by interspersing sessions with aspects such as rational thinking, reflection, stress management, and emotional regulation/management. Our approach to this is inspired by the Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy.
