Overview

AIFO, India is a professional non-profit health and development organization that enables opportunities for persons affected by leprosy, person persons with disability, women, children and members of poor and vulnerable backgrounds, through focussed healthcare, education and economic empowerment initiatives across India with the aim of providing a better quality of life and creating large scale positive change Our work is guided by the belief that every life has equal value. By enabling opportunities for persons affected by leprosy, persons with disability, women and children from marginalised communities we aim to create large scale positive impact. For over 15 years AIFO India has directly impacted over 1, 50,000 lives of persons suffering from leprosy, persons affected by disability and women and children from vulnerable and underserved communities across India. We operate in 10 states and currently run 17 projects. Working with partners, our mission is to develop and support programs that create significant positive change across our thematic areas. Our projects fall under: a. Reconstructive surgery for patients with leprosy related deformities. b. Training programs aimed at upskilling to government healthcare workers, local NGO workers, staff of local government hospitals, staff at low cost private hospitals and other relevant stakeholders c. Education initiatives including formal and non-formal opportunities for orphans, children with disability and leprosy, rag pickers as well as children coming from extreme poverty and abuse. d. Economic empowerment initiatives primarily focussed on funding self-help groups comprising women, disabled people and members of marginalized communities. We develop and support projects that are bold and innovative. We are committed to learning lessons through monitoring and evaluation of our partners as well as from our extensive experience on the field.
