Amazink is proud to have been South Africa’s very first township theatre-restaurant. A delicious, three-course South African meal sets the stage for what follows – vibrant and soulful local rhythms woven through a story of life, love and laughter. Friday evening dinner with a live performance of local artists singing and dancing has laid the foundation for Amazink as a venue. The bigger vision is for Amazink to become a bridge between communities previously divided, as captured in our manifesto: To know Amazink is to know the creative heart of Kayamandi. Out of that heart pulsates dreams revived and passions reignited; Value of life recognized and originality encouraged. To know Amazink is to join a liberation movement that invites the young and old, regardless of skin or tongue; the rich and poor, regardless of birthplace. To know Amazink is to become a piece of the bridge that is the universal language of art, music and innovation; The bridge that unites the divided and harmonizes discord. To know Amazink is to believe we were created with purpose; To believe that leading well is serving well. To esteem our neighbors greater than ourselves. To know Amazink is to learn to balance. We must correct injustices while loving our enemies. We must lead by example while while walking in humility. To know Amazink is to know ubuntu: I am because you are, not because I have; choosing community first, without blind pursuit of wealth. To know Amazink is to know a self-sustaining legacy.
